Komatsu NTC Co., Ltd. [3D CAD Implementation Case] i CAD SX

Thoroughly analyze the hidden problems in design engineering and significantly reduce design man-hours and lead time in three steps!

We will introduce a case study of business improvement using the 3D CAD "iCAD SX," which is specialized in mechanical design. At Komatsu NTC Corporation, the design process of transfer machines was thoroughly analyzed, and it was identified that the dedicated design of certain modules was the main cause of increased man-hours. (There were covers of both 1500mm and 1510mm.) In order to aim for the standardization and normalization of the constituent parts that require dedicated design, the company decided to transition to 3D design and utilized "iCAD SX," which has lightweight data and is easy to modify. In addition to successfully halving the lead time for module design, they have further reduced design man-hours by establishing an automatic drawing system for tooling diagrams. [Main Effects of Implementation] - By 3D modeling each part's drawings and standardizing and normalizing constituent parts, lead time was halved. - By 3D modeling piping design, total man-hours for piping design and manufacturing were reduced by nearly 30%. IHI Corporation [3D CAD Implementation Case] i CAD SX

Reduce design time for large industrial machinery by 30%! Significant reduction in rework through business reform using 3D CAD!

We would like to introduce a case study of business improvement using the 3D CAD "iCAD SX," which is specialized in mechanical design. IHI Corporation was using 2D CAD for large industrial machine design, but the 2D drawings could only be understood by the designers, leading to a constant struggle with meetings and document preparation for various stakeholders. In order to improve the increasingly burdensome working environment for designers, they decided to transition to 3D design. After searching for a 3D CAD that could flexibly respond to customer needs, they selected "iCAD SX." As a result, they successfully built a design environment that significantly reduced design rework through early disclosure of design information in 3D models and enhanced design reviews with customers and internal related departments. [Main Effects of Implementation] - Enhanced design reviews with customers and stakeholders, leading to reduced rework - Successful improvement of work efficiency in piping design, which was difficult with 2D - Achieved a 30% reduction in design time compared to what was anticipated with 2D CAD [Download Materials] - Currently available for limited access on a special site. Piping and wiring design

Large-scale routing on 3D CAD assemblies! Significant reduction in rework hours on the manufacturing floor through prior wiring considerations.

In mechanical devices and production/plant equipment, it is important to be able to consider not only the mechanics but also the piping, wiring, and steel materials while confirming the surrounding arrangements. However, the following issues arise in the design field. 【Common Concerns】 - 3D CAD data is heavy, making it difficult to consider piping and wiring. - Since piping and wiring are designed using specialized software, any modifications on the mechanical side require restarting the 3D CAD each time. - Using multiple software makes it difficult to maintain consistency. - Modifications cannot be made on the spot as design reviews are conducted with a viewer. All of these issues can be resolved. With COLMINA Design and Manufacturing Support iCAD SX (hereinafter referred to as iCAD), we have achieved a processing performance of 0.2 seconds for 3 million parts through the incorporation of proprietary technology. We have succeeded in reducing the weight of 3D data to about 1/50 of its original weight (compared to our company), and by accumulating and utilizing all information related to large-scale piping, wiring, and steel materials in iCAD, we support the realization of DX in manufacturing. For more details, please download the catalog and check it.

Setting bulk hole attributes to 3D models in 【iCAD×meviy】.

No need for 2D disassembly! By linking the 3D model and hole attribute information of iCAD to meviy, it is possible to estimate machine parts in just one minute.

Are you creating 2D drawings for processing instructions even though you are designing in 3DCAD? By using the 3D CAD specialized for mechanical design, "COLMINA Design and Manufacturing Support iCAD SX (hereinafter referred to as iCAD)," along with the online mechanical parts procurement service "meviy," you can easily arrange parts. When you upload a 3D model created in iCAD, you can automatically link and reflect the hole attribute information to meviy, allowing you to obtain estimates for mechanical parts in just one minute. This significantly reduces the time-consuming tasks of creating 2D drawings and obtaining estimates, achieving both improved design quality and work efficiency, and greatly enhancing the customer’s parts procurement process. → For more details, please refer to the link at the end of the text. Furthermore, iCAD has developed a function that allows you to set hole attributes in bulk, which can be lost when going through intermediate files, thanks to its shape recognition technology specialized for mechanical design. You can derive candidates for hole attributes from the shape of the 3D model and easily set the hole attributes. For actual operation methods, please refer to the related videos. Collaboration videos of iCAD×Meviy are currently available on the official Misumi YouTube channel.

Shimane Fujitsu Co., Ltd. [3D CAD Implementation Case] i CAD SX

Reduced the startup period of the production line for PCs by 40%! Robot simulation on 3D CAD.

We would like to introduce a case study of business improvement using the 3D CAD "iCAD SX," which is specialized in mechanical design. At "Shimane Fujitsu Co., Ltd.," they are internalizing the production equipment for laptops and other devices. They decided to transition to 3D design to enable vertical ramp-up during the switch between over 20 different models. By designing and virtually verifying the optimal placement of robots and the design and manufacturing of jigs, which are challenges that arise with each work change, they were able to shorten the line ramp-up period by 40% using iCAD SX. As a result of reducing the ramp-up period and minimizing rework, they were able to secure more time for consideration in the planning phase of the equipment. 【Main Effects of Implementation】 - The ramp-up period after equipment installation was reduced from 5 days to 3 days. - Robot simulation, including surrounding equipment, is now possible on the 3D CAD. - Interference is significantly reduced in 3D design. 【Document Download】 - Currently available for limited viewing on the "Special Site." DENSO Co., Ltd. [3D CAD Implementation Case] i CAD SX

Designing over 100 production facilities with 3D CAD! Designing and manufacturing specialized machines packed with unique technology without any setbacks!

We will introduce a case study of business improvement using the 3D CAD "iCAD SX," which is specialized in mechanical design. At Denso Corporation, they are in-sourcing the production equipment for automotive parts. As the equipment became more complex and large-scale, they felt the limitations of 2D inspection through visual checks and decided to transition to 3D design. After acquiring high-end CAD and several mid-range CAD systems, they conducted actual designs and benchmarking, ultimately selecting "iCAD SX" as it could accommodate the assembly of machining equipment with over 10,000 parts. As a result, after a trial introduction period, it was officially adopted as the standard 3D CAD for the entire company. They have achieved "no return" by designing over 100 production facilities in 3D. [Main Effects of Implementation] - Labor-saving from detailed drawing design to assembly and design stages - Improvement in design quality, cost reduction, and enhanced competitiveness - High-precision simulation of equipment, robots, and human movements [Download Materials] - Currently available for limited access on the special site.
